Digital Health Tools - How Many Have You Used in the Last Week?
Digital health tools are all around us and for good reasons. Like any tool, they are supposed to make a job easier or more convenient. In this case, the job is to help support YOUR health and access to health care and resources.
Don’t believe it? Here’s a list of digital tools that many Islanders are using daily. How many have you tried before? How many would you be interested in learning more about?
- Smart watches to track movement, sleep, or other health-related data (Fitbit, Apple Watch, Garmin)
- Prescriptions sent directly to your pharmacist instead of a paper copy
- Accessing your own personal health information electronically in an app or secure online service
- Making an appointment online
- Having a telephone or virtual consultation with a health care provider
- Calling 811 to speak to a registered nurse for health advice and support
- Participating in a Remote Patient Monitoring program that uses a home device to help manage a chronic condition, with data shared electronically with your healthcare provider.
In Canada, new digital health tools are being introduced all the time and can enhance how we access health care, health information, and improve our personal health and wellness.
